Well, he's back.

A little sunburned, a little tired, and a lot more quiet than usual.

Once he's cleaned up a little and had some breakfast (still meatless--it's still Lent), Charlie takes his guitar out by the lake and starts playing slow, thoughtful variations on Nobody Knows and Nobody Seems to Care.

It beats thinkin'.

In a back booth, the bassist and the tree god are having an intense conversation. The tree god is saying things like "committment" and "free will" and the bassist is saying things like "course-corrections" and "tangled timelines."
